Meat is Murder, but…

Shortly after my diagnosis of Celiac Disease, I abandoned all soy (really hard to do- have you read ingredient lists lately??) which required leaving behind vegetarianism for protein. I’ve been on a more or less Paleo/GAPS/SCD regimen for a week now, which is essentially meat, veggies, fruit, nuts, and healthy oils. Coconut and almond flour are permissible replacements for grain flours. I boxed up all of my gluten free but grain containing goods to get them out of sight and hopefully mind. Too bad I went a little crazy after my diagnosis and bought up a bunch of gluten free grain products (as did my parents)! The GAPS and SCD prescribe eating only meat stew and mashed carrots, then advancing to other stages by slowly introducing other foods. I haven’t done this, and I probably should as so many people recommend it online, but I want to check with a doctor before doing so for the sake of nutrition/vitamin adequacy. I’m also worried that going on such a strict version of the diet may make my cravings for bready foods and sugar even worse than they already are. I know I am eating too many nuts and fruits to satisfy my carb/sweet cravings, so I’m trying to eat more protein to fill me up. Going to try out a burger recipe later today (no bun, of course).
