A string of tests, to be followed by more tests
A recent doctor’s appointment yielded normal sedimentation rate, normal Vit D, low blood sugar (but could be normal for me- but means no diabetes!!!), and high red blood cell count. I’m still awaiting news of my IgA test (for gluten antibodies i.e. my body acting like it’s still at war with gluten). Will return in the near future for fructose malabsorption testing, bone density scan and further testing of my red blood cell issue with a Celiac specialist.
The doctor briefly mentioned the FODMAPs diet, which may make my life easier until my intestines repair themselves (even though I don’t have IBS). I think most everyone could benefit from knowledge of what foods are generally bloat-inducing and digestively taxing, even if it means reducing rather than eliminating them in your diet.
I am going to start substituting pure maple syrup for honey in baking, as honey is on the cut list for high fructose levels. Although no sugar would be optimal, it’s nice to have an occasional paleo baked treat in addition to my normal meat/eggs, veg and fruit, and maple syrup certainly has quite a few supportive reviews.
